Frequently Asked Questions
Where is it?
Las Floritas apartments are less than 10 minutes’ walk from the beaches of Playa de las Americas, but you can also walk in the other direction to the resort of Los Cristianos in about 20 minutes.

Although within easy walking distance of the beaches and amenities, the complex is actually located back from the seafront, just in front of the Golf Las Americas golf course. This means that as long as your neighbours aren’t having a late-night party you should be OK to get some sleep at night – not always easy in other more central apartments in Playa de las Americas. And even though it’s not right in the centre, you can easily walk to and from the night-life, bars, restaurants, beaches and shops when it suits you.
Like any of the Playa de las Americas hotels and apartments, Las Floritas is a nice short transfer from Tenerife South airport – about 25 minutes in a taxi or maybe a little longer by coach if there are other drop-offs. I’d prefer the taxi – there are loads at the airport and the fare is about 25 euros.
Who is it best suited to?
If you want to party till dawn by the pool after a night out at the bars and clubs of Playa de las Americas, well – I’d go for more central apartments in Playa de las Americas, because Las Floritas is usually quiet at night, and if anyone steps out of line, they have a “quiet word”. This is probably because a lot of the apartments are privately owned by people who want to look after their investments.
I wouldn’t recommend this complex for families with young children to be honest, just because I

think you would be better off in a more family-orientated apartment in Los Cristianos maybe. To be honest, I get the impression that many people who choose this complex over other apartments in Tenerife may well be into the night life in the centre of the resort, but also like to get their heads down for a bit of peace and quiet at the end of a good night out.
What about food and drink?
Some apartments in Tenerife offer places to eat on-site, and Las Floritas has a handy cafe-bar serving toasties, pizzas etc. which is good for when you are lounging by the moat. Er, pool I mean. But one of the great things about Playa de las Americas is that there are sooo many cheap places to eat on the doorstep – loads of cafes, bars and restaurants serving all kinds of food at very reasonable prices. You can even get a takeaway from the Chinese next door and bring it back to eat on the balcony.
How do the rooms compare to the usual standard for apartments in Tenerife?
At Las Floritas there are 179 apartments in several buildings of three floors. There are no lifts, just so you know, which means that people with walking disabilities may want to look at some of

the other apartments in Tenerife for easier access.
One of the things I like about the complex is that with a lot of the apartments being privately owned, it’s all well cared for. Apartments have either one or two bedrooms. The one-bedroom apartments sleep up to three adults and the two bedroom apartments can sleep up to five adults. The bedrooms have twin beds and there are sofa beds in the living area.
There is also a dining area and a kitchenette equipped with a hob, microwave, fridge, pans, plates and cutlery so self-catering is possible but with so many cheap cafes and restaurants on the

doorstep, it’s probably just as cost-effective to eat out.
There is also a TV in each apartment, a safe (for a small charge) and of course a private bathroom and a balcony/terrace.
What’s outside?
Now we come to the most unusual feature of this complex – something you can’t find in many Tenerife apartments – the pools. Well, I hear you say, pools – that’s not so unusual is it? Maybe not, but the swimming pools at Las Floritas apartments in Tenerife are, well, weird! There are no less than SIX of them, and they surround

the central apartment buildings like a giant moat around some great medieval castle. Just about everyone who comes here loves them.
Are the staff friendly?
They’re fine, especially the really helpful lifeguard around the pool. You will be treated well as long as you don’t take the proverbial. Start partying at 4am on your balcony and you’re going to be collared the next day, OK!
Oh, and when you arrive from the airport to rediscover that there are no lifts here, please remember that these are two-star self-catering apartments in Playa de las Americas. Some people seem to have a problem when the reception staff don’t offer to carry their cases up to the room for them. To these people I would say this: forget about staying in great value apartments in Tenerife and pay £££ more for a five-star hotel in Costa Adeje. They’ve got porters coming out of their ears there.
Is there Internet access?
There is a PC with internet access on a pay-as-you-go basis – 15 minutes for 1 euro.
What other facilities are on offer?
You will find a handy little mini-market on-site for those essential last-minute essentials. Not to mention the essentials.
Insider Tips“Go out of the hotel and turn right, walk straight down the road for 10-15 minutes and you will come to the beach at Los Cristianos and some great shops like Hugo Boss and Zara.” “If you want a quiet apartment, ask for one away from the road when you book.” “We almost always ate out at the Whiskey Jar next door. Food’s fantastic there and the staff are a laugh!” |
Verdict
OK this is not the Ritz, but for the money you will pay here you wouldn’t get into the cleaner’s cupboard there.
Look, if you a want great value, clean self-catering apartment on a well-kept complex with a HUGE WINDING MOAT of a pool – and all within easy walking distance of not just Playa de las Americas but also Los Cristianos, then Las Floritas could be just for you.
On the basis of its sound value for money, I’m giving it 8/10.
