For example, on Tripadvisor, out of 202 reviewers, 84% rated it very good or excellent, and an incredible 91% would be happy to recommend the hotel to others.
One of the most frequent comments about the Sol Guadalupe hotel is that it should be four-star and not three. From the moment you walk into the stunning reception area to be greeted by the smiling receptionists, everything certainly has that four-star feel, and it’s a feel that will stay with you throughout your stay in this well-run hotel.
Let’s take a closer look at what’s so special, and what’s not..
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is it?
The Sol Guadalupe is centrally located in Magaluf, but the short five-minute walk from the night-life means that it is quieter than a lot of hotels in Magaluf. It’s also a quick 200 metre hop to the beach.
Like all Magaluf hotels, the Sol Guadalupe is about 26 kilometres from the airport which makes for a nice short transfer.
Who will this hotel appeal to?
Magaluf (sometimes spelt Magalluf) is a lively resort in high season – very lively in fact. In peak periods this hotel is best suited to people who either love the buzz of Magaluf or are at least tolerant of it. Younger couples and groups of

friends who come to enjoy the night-life but also want a clean, comfortable, plush hotel to relax in during the daytime will love it here.
Outside those heady high-season weeks the Sol Guadalupe becomes more of a place for families and has many facilities for guests of all ages as I will explain.
What’s the food like?
Sol certainly know how to get food right in their hotels and the Guadalupe is no exception. You can start the day with a luxurious breakfast in the bright and modern dining room – full English; toast; cereals; ham; cheeses; eggs cooked to order; yoghurt; fresh fruit – everything you could wish for. Just be aware, if you are late to bed, that breakfast finishes at 10:30am!
If you need an energy boost during the day there is a snack bar, which is a very unfair description for the modern, relaxed Salon Bar.
In the evenings, it’s back to the main buffet restaurant for a huge array of freshly-prepared dishes – usually a choice of two soups; meat and fish dishes including some local Spanish dishes; salad dishes; cold meats; cheese; burgers; chicken nuggets; chips – the list goes on and on. Oh, and unusually there is an “Italian corner” where you can get a pizza; spaghetti or garlic bread – every night if you want it!
How do the rooms compare to other hotels in Magaluf?
The 493 rooms here are often described by customers using words like “clean”, “spotless” and “airy”. They are not the

biggest hotel rooms in the world and can feel a bit cramped if you have three people in them, but what they lack in spaciousness they make up for in quality – they’re recently refurbished and to a very good standard, in line with the whole hotel.
Each room has a balcony; bath and shower; air-conditioning; satellite TV; phone and a safe for a small charge.
If you have a baby, ask at reception for a key to the baby room, where you will find microwaves; sterilising equipment; kettles and a fridge so you can easily prepare formula feeds for your baby.
What’s outside?
Of all the hotels in Magaluf, the Guadalupe Hotel must have one of the most impressive outdoor areas. There is a large lagoon of a swimming pool with a central jacuzzi, and two recently-built children’s pools.
The gardens and terraces are extensive, and well-equipped with sun beds. At night, there is atmospheric mood lighting throughout the pools and gardens that changes colour according to what entertainment is taking place. Some people would say that although the beach in Magaluf is great, the hotel pool here is even better!
Do they have Internet access?
You will find public internet terminals here, available on a pay-as-you-go basis, but as far as I am aware there is still no WIFI access in the rooms.
Are the staff friendly?
Read as many reviews of this hotel as I have and you will see that the staff here get a lot of praise, from from the smiling reception staff to the efficient housekeeping team and the apparently non-stop waiting staff. The entertainment team work exceptionally hard here by all accounts and daytime activity organiser Florian gets a special mention. Also watch out for the lovely Toni.
What activities are on offer?
Compared to many other Magaluf hotels, the Sol Guadalupe has a very full entertainment programme for all ages, day and night. What about joining the paella and sangria workshop? Or maybe take your chances on the “water carpet” (don’t ask!). Feeling sporty? No problem – archery, petanque, water basketball, aerobics – it’s all on offer here. There’s also a TV room, a pool table and table tennis.
At night there are good quality acts, shows and live music several times a week – and of a standard that you certainly don’t get in all hotels according to the glowing reports from guests.
Insider Tips“The waterparks and the pirates show are within easy walking distance – just turn right as you leave the hotel.” “Palma Nova is within easy walking distance, or you can take a taxi for four euros.” “Rooms 1 to 31 on every floor overlook the pool.” |
Verdict
The Sol Guadalupe has to be one of the best of all Magaluf hotels, definitely at the top of its class in my opinion and offering great value and quality. I have no choice but to rate this a rare 9.5/10.
